A new genre

Veteran filmmaker K Balachander released the audio of Chimbudevan’s Irumbukottai Murattu Singam (IMS), which has music by GV Prakash, on Saturday morning. The lead star cast of Lawrence and his three heroines in the film —Lakshmi Rai, Padmapriya and Sandhya — were present on the occasion. The slick, action-packed trailer of the cowboy film was screened along with two songs for the audience.
Lawrence, dressed in cowboy attire, dances like a dream, in one of the songs. Praising Lawrence’s timing, lyricist Vairamuthu remarked, “Lawrence is both a good dancer and fighter.” KB said, “When I came to Chennai as a 20-year-old, I grew up on Hollywood cowboy films of the 50s and 60s. I like this genre a lot and the trailer of IMS is superb.”
Chimbudevan, who confessed that he is a big fan of the great Italian director Sergio Leone (who made his name with cowboy films) and actor John Wayne, said that audiences can find their influence in IMS.
